What should I know about olopatadine ophthalmic before I use it?

Before using olopatadine ophthalmic solution, you should be aware of the following safety information:
  • Some medicines can interfere with the effectiveness of olopatadine ophthalmic solution. (Be sure to tell your doctor about other medications that you are taking.)  
  • Olopatadine ophthalmic solution contains a preservative that can be absorbed by soft contact lenses. (If you wear contact lenses, wait at least 10 minutes after applying olopatadine ophthalmic solution before inserting your lenses.)
  • Be sure to discuss any allergies or other medical conditions you have with your doctor, particularly any eye infections.
  • Talk to your doctor about the risks and side effects associated with this drug.
