Lastacaft, or alcaftadine, treats the itchiness associated with allergic pinkeye (or allergic conjunctivitis) by blocking a chemical in the body called histamine. Unlike many other antihistamines, which are often taken orally, Lastacaft is applied directly to the affected eye(s).
