What is the difference between Zymar and other eye drops?

Zymar is an antibiotic that is administered as an eye drop and formulated to kill various bacteria that may infect the eye or surrounding membranes. This eye drop solution contains antibiotics that fight the bacteria causing the infection. Over-the-counter eye drops may be intended for other purposes, such as keeping the eye moist or reducing irritation, and will not help fight a bacterial eye infection.
