Are there any side effects of oxymetazoline?

Side effects of over-the-counter oxymetazoline nasal sprays are usually minor, including nasal irritation, stinging, burning, dryness and sneezing. Your nose may run more than usual. Other side effects may include nausea, headaches, sleeping problems or feeling dizzy or nervous. You should get emergency medical help if you notice any of the following possible side effects: erratic, fast or slow heartbeat; odd behavior; hallucinations; seizures; symptoms of an allergic reaction, including hives, closing of the throat, breathing problems or swollen face, lips or tongue.
