Can over-the-counter medications treat oppositional defiant disorder?

There are no over-the-counter medications that can treat oppositional defiant disorder (ODD). In fact, even prescription medication is not the primary form of treatment for this condition. Because ODD is a behavioral condition, behavior modification is the main way that it is treated. Individual and family counseling are used to train parents and children in new, positive behaviors. There are some cases when medication may be necessary. These situations include the presence of co-existing conditions such as ADHD or depression.
