Who should not receive Duramorph?

People who are allergic to any ingredients in Duramorph should not receive it. People who are going to have general anesthesia shortly after receiving Duramorph, should also not receive this medication. Others who should not receive this medication include: people with a breathing problem, low blood volume, people with paralysis of the intestines or colitis associated with antibiotic use. In addition, it should not be given to alcohol users and people taking a tricyclic antidepressant, sodium oxybate, a phenothiazine or cimetidine. Nursing mothers should not receive Duramorph because it passes through breast milk to a breastfeeding child.
