Who should not take Opana ER?

Do not take Opana ER if you are allergic to oxymorphone or other narcotic medications, such as codeine or morphine. Do not take Opana ER to treat post-surgical pain unless you were already taking it before your surgery.

People with severe liver disease or an obstructed bowel (possibly due to paralytic ileus), should not take Opana ER. Never take Opana ER while you are having an asthma attack. Talk to your doctor before taking Opana ER if you have other medical conditions or are taking other medications.

Do not take Opana ER if you are breastfeeding. Do not take Opana ER while pregnant, unless a doctor has determined that the benefits to you outweigh the risks to the fetus.
