What are the side effects of Alfenta (alfentanil)?

Like most medications, Alfenta may cause certain side effects in some people. In rare cases, Alfenta may cause a severe allergic reaction that leads to difficulty breathing, swelling in the face or throat, and hives. If these symptoms develop, get medical attention right away. Alfenta may also cause breathing problems, including respiratory arrest or shallow breathing. Other serious side effects of Alfenta may include irregular heartbeat, high or low blood pressure, and rigidity of skeletal muscles, especially in the chest and abdomen. Alfenta may also lead to other side effects, including nausea, vomiting, slowed breathing, blurred vision, drowsiness, and dizziness. Other side effects may be possible, so talk to your doctor if any new or unusual symptoms develop after taking Alfenta.
