What are the side effects of hydromorphone?

Common side effects of hydromorphone include: abdominal pain, dizziness, drowsiness, lightheadedness, vomiting, upset stomach, constipation, rash, difficulty urinating, fear, anxiety, impaired physical or mental performance, inability to urinate, fuzzy thinking, mood changes, sluggishness, restlessness or slowed or difficult breathing. Other side effects of hydromorphone can be more serious. Call your doctor right away if you experience fainting or slow breathing, since these can be signs of serious respiratory complications. Also seek immediate care if you have an allergic reaction and develop a rash or hives. Call 911 for signs of an allergic reaction: swelling of the mouth, lips, tongue or throat or difficulty breathing.
