Talk to your doctor before taking the prescription pain medication Ultram (tramadol) with a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI). Taking these drugs together may increase the risk of seizures and of serotonin syndrome, which is a rare but serious group of symptoms. Your doctor may want to monitor you closely, particularly when you start treatment with Ultram or when your dose is adjusted.
