Can I use Subutex if I have a history of stomach problems?

If you have a history of stomach problems, talk to your doctor before taking Subutex (buprenorphine), a medicine that helps treat addiction to opioid drugs, including heroin and narcotic painkillers like morphine. Depending on the nature of your stomach problems, your doctor may decide that Subutex is not safe for you to take. Alternatively, he or she may want to monitor you closely if you do take the drug. Nausea, vomiting and other stomach problems are common side effects of Subutex.

Before taking Subutex, give your doctor a detailed medical history, including past as well as current health problems. Once you're on the drug, keep your doctor informed of any changes in your health, including stomach problems.
