Can I use MS Contin if I have a history of seizures?

The pain medication MS Contin (morphine) may increase the chances of having a seizure in people who are prone to them. Let your doctor know if you have seizures or have a history of a convulsive disorder so that he or she monitors you carefully while you're taking MS Contin.

Your doctor also needs to know if you're using any medication for your seizure condition because this could affect whether you're prescribed MS Contin and what your dose will be. Both MS Contin and antiseizure drugs tend to slow down the central nervous system. In combination, they can cause a severe drop in such crucial bodily functions as breathing rate and blood pressure, which could cause coma and even death.
