Can I use Fentora if I have a history of mental problems?

You can use Fentora (fentanyl), a morphine-like drug for breakthrough cancer pain, if you have a history of a mental illness, such as depression, bipolar disorder, or schizophrenia. But you should be aware that people with mental illnesses often find it particularly challenging, physically and emotionally, to go off narcotic pain medicines like Fentora, if and when they try to stop. You should also know that strange thoughts, confusion, anxiety, depression, nervousness, mood changes and hallucinations are among the possible side effects of Fentora. If you experience any of these symptoms, you should contact your doctor immediately.
