Can I drink alcohol while using Buprenex?

You should avoid drinking while being given injections of the narcotic pain medication Buprenex (buprenorphine), as alcohol may increase the medication's effects on your body to a dangerous degree, impairing your thinking and mental alertness. If you do drink while taking Buprenex, do not drive or operate heavy machinery. Tell your doctor if you drink alcohol, as he or she may want to give you a different medication.
