Can I use Dilaudid if I have a history of urinary problems?

Before taking Dilaudid (hydromorphone), tell your doctor if you've had any urinary problems in the past. One of the side effects of the pain reliever is difficulty urinating. If you have ever been diagnosed with prostatic hypertrophy (better known as enlarged prostate) or any other condition that causes urinary problems, let your doctor know before you start using Dilaudid. This medication may worsen your symptoms.
