What is folic acid, cyanocobalamin and pyridoxine (Foltx)?

Folic acid, cyanocobalamin and pyridoxine, also known by the brand name Foltx, are the combination of vitamin B6, B12 and folate (folic acid, B9) that comes in a multivitamin tablet form. It is found in a class of drugs known as nutritional combinations and is available by prescription only. It is used to treat people with kidney failure who are on dialysis; a blood disorder known as hyperhomocysteinemia; an inherited disorder of metabolism known as homocystinuria; and conditions of nutrient malabsorption or malnutrition. It is primarily used to boost the nutrition of those who already have, or are at risk for developing, cardiovascular, cerebrovascular, peripheral vascular and arteriosclerotic vascular diseases as well as neurological disorders, Alzheimer's disease and kidney disease.
