What are the side effects of Multiple Electrolytes and Dextrose Injection?

Some side effects of Plasma-Lyte 148 and Dextrose injection (multiple electrolytes and dextrose) include overhydration, pulmonary edema, congestion, infection at the injection site, blood clots, extravasation (a condition in which urine leaks and collects in other body cavities), fever, and dilution of the electrolytes in your blood.

In premature infants, too much Plasma-Lyte 148 and Dextrose can result in too many electrolytes in the blood and even hemorrhage.

If you have any of the above side effects that are bothersome, tell your doctor right away.
