How should I take oral rehydration salts?

Oral rehydration salts are available in the United States under several formulations. Pedialyte and Pedia-pop are often used for children. Other brand names include HydraLife, Hydra-1, Cera Sport, and CeraLyte 70 (a mixture of salt, sugar, clean water, and baking soda from your kitchen cupboard can also be used). Always take these solutions according to the direction of your doctor. With vomiting, small frequent spoonfuls can help prevent further vomiting. For diarrhea, a cup of fluid should be consumed for each loose bowel movement.
