Medical nutrition therapy can benefit a number of gastrointestinal disorders including:

  • Eosinophilic disorders in your digestive system, in which your body overproduces a certain type of white blood cell
  • Fat intolerance or steatorrhea (the presence of excess fat in feces)
  • Gastric bypass surgery
  • Gluten intolerance
  • Inflammatory bowel disease, including both Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis

If you have a condition in which you cannot process glucose (sugars), such as diabetes, ask your doctor before you start a treatment that involves medical nutrition therapy.
