What is turbinate hypertrophy and what are its symptoms?

The turbinates are the scroll-like structures in your nose which cleanse and humidify the air as it passes through your nostrils into your lungs. Turbinate hypertrophy occurs when the turbinates become enlarged. The symptoms of turbinate hypertrophy are similar to those of nasal septal deviations:

  • Congested or blocked nasal breathing
  • Breathing trouble at night and snoring
  • Chronic nosebleeds
  • Chronic sinus infections
