What is Indocin IV?

Indocin IV is the prescription drug indomethacin, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It is used to treat patent ductus arteriosus, a birth defect of the heart that can occur in babies born prematurely. Indocin IV is given intravenously, usually in a course of three doses separated by more than 12 hours.
