What are the side effects of Indocin IV?

The most frequent side effects associated with Indocin IV, according to the manufacturer, are bleeding problems including  gross or microscopic bleeding in the intestinal tract, pulmonary hemorrhage, and disseminated intravascular coagulopathy; transient oliguria and elevations of serum creatinine (≥ 1.8 mg/dL). Other serious side effects include an allergic reaction that triggers severe itching, a rash or hives, swelling of the face or mouth, or trouble breathing. Other severe reactions include:

  • skin peeling or blistering
  • bleeding and bruising
  • blood sugar problems
  • high potassium levels
  • low urine output
  • dark urine
  • yellowing of the eyes or skin
