What are the side effects of ibuprofen lysine injection?

Using ibuprofen lysine injections can lead to varying types and degrees of side effects. Learning to recognize possible side effects will help you to monitor your baby's health while he or she is receiving ibuprofen lysine injections. If you notice any of the following symptoms, talk to your baby's doctor right away. Side effects can include:

  • anxiety, restlessness, decreased alertness, irritability
  • blood in the eyes or stools
  • bloating (especially of the stomach)
  • bruising, purpling, or darkening of the skin
  • bumps
  • rash
  • change in the color of the lips, nails, or skin (bluing or bruising)
  • cough, coughing up blood
  • chills, cool pale skin or cold sweats
  • coma
  • clotting complications
  • decreased amount of urine, blood in the urine, or cloudy urine
  • diarrhea
  • fever
  • high or increased blood pressure
  • indigestion
  • gas 
  • increased hunger and/or thirst
  • irregular heartbeat
  • irregular breathing (difficulty breathing, rapid breathing and/or shallow breathing)     
  • indigestion
  • itching, redness of the skin
  • loss of appetite
  • nose bleeds
  • sneezing
  • sensitivity of the stomach or bladder area or in the joints or muscles
  • seizures or tremors
  • stomach ache
  • swelling (face, fingers, feet, joints, lower legs)
  • twitching
  • unusual tiredness
  • vomiting
  • and weakness.
