The most common side effects associated with the use of diclofenac topical solution include dry, itchy skin or a possible red rash at the application site. In addition, even though diclofenac topical solution is not taken internally, it carries the same risks associated with other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or NSAIDs. Such risks include stomach or intestinal bleeding or ulcers. Other risks are liver failure, kidney failure, cardiovascular events, including heart attack or stroke and stomach or intestinal problems.
