The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has placed piroxicam in "Category C" of its pregnancy rating system, suggesting that risk to the fetus cannot be ruled out. Also, there may be an increased risk of miscarriage if you take piroxicam or other NSAIDs during the first part of your pregnancy. Finally, if you take it later in the pregnancy there is a chance that the baby will have heart problems, kidney problems or bleeding in the brain. Because of these risks, it is better to avoid piroxicam and other NSAIDs while you are pregnant.
