How does Midol relieve menstrual symptoms including cramping and bloating?

Midol contains acetaminophen as a pain reliever to help cramps and other pain-related menstrual symptoms. Midol also includes caffeine, a diuretic, which helps to release  excess water gain associated with menstrual bloating. This additional ingredient makes Midol menstrual-specific, as opposed to acetaminophen pills or other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) used to treat general pain.
