How does Aleve (naproxen) treat inflammation, fever and pain?

The active ingredient in Aleve is naproxen, which is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug, or NSAID. NSAIDs block the body's production of hormones that trigger inflammation, pain, and fever. These hormones are called prostaglandins. Aleve is available over-the-counter, and it is taken orally.
