How does Aleve (naproxen) differ from Naprosyn (naproxen)?

Aleve is a non-prescription medication that is available over-the-counter and is indicated for the temporary relief of minor pain and inflammation. Naprosyn is a prescription drug indicated for relief of chronic pain and inflammation. Both medications are NSAIDs that treat the same conditions, including arthritis, menstrual cramps, and muscle and joint pain. Naprosyn is manufactured by Roche Pharmaceuticals, and Aleve is manufactured by Bayer Healthcare, previously Roche Pharmaceuticals.
