What is stage 2 non-Hodgkin lymphoma?

Stage 2 non-Hodgkin (or Hodgkin's) lymphoma is a term applied to certain diagnoses of a type of cancer that develops in the lymph system. Doctors assign stages to a lymphoma diagnosis based on how many tumors are found, and how widespread they are in the body. Stage 2 lymphoma is slightly more advanced than stage 1, with cancerous cells found in two or more groups located either above or below the diaphragm, a midline that runs between the abdomen and the rib cage. Alternately, the affected cells could be located in a single lymph node and an adjacent organ.
