Are there alternative treatments for stage 1 non-Hodgkin lymphoma?

The most common alternative to chemotherapy and radiation is called watchful waiting. This is an option for indolent forms of the disease, and for when symptoms haven't started. Watchful waiting still requires regular checkups with your doctor, probably several times a year. Once symptoms start, or if the disease is aggressive, a combination of chemotherapy and radiation is the only proven effective treatment of stage 1 non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
