The most common alternative to chemotherapy and radiation is called watchful waiting. This is an option for indolent forms of this stage, and for when symptoms haven't started up. Watchful waiting still requires regular checkups with your doctor several times a year. If symptoms start, or if the disease is aggressive, a combination of chemotherapy and radiation is the only proven effective treatment of stage A non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
