Who should not take a nitrate medication?

Do not use nitrates if you are taking medications to treat erectile dysfunction, such as tadalafil (Cialis), vardenafil (Levitra), or sildenafil (Viagra). These medications can cause a life-threatening drop in blood pressure when used in addition to a nitrate. If you are taking nitroglycerin and are experiencing erectile dysfunction, talk with your doctor about alternative treatments.
