What are the side effects of amyl nitrite?

Side effects of amyl nitrite may include headaches, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, restlessness, rapid pulse or flushing of the skin. Tell your doctor if these side effects persist or become severe. More serious side effects are possible and you should contact your doctor right away if you experience them. These include: blue fingertips or lips; irregular heartbeat; heartbeat that is unusually fast or slow; extreme fatigue or weakness; low blood pressure; feeling short of breath; fainting; rash; and pressure in the head. Symptoms of an allergic reaction to amyl nitrite, including severe itching, a rash or hives or swelling of the face or mouth, require immediate medical attention.
