How should I take amyl nitrite?

Take amyl nitrite as directed by your doctor. Amyl nitrite comes in a cloth-covered glass vial that contains 0.3 milliliters of the drug. When you feel the chest pains of angina, sit down. Crush the vial between your fingertips. Pass the vial under your nose one to six times and inhale the vapors. If your pain is not relieved within one to five minutes, take a second dose. If your pain is not relieved by two doses within 10 minutes, call 911 for emergency treatment.
