Can night terrors be prevented?

There is no sure way to prevent night terrors. Typically, they occur in childhood and are outgrown. But if your night terrors are linked to an underlying condition, such as stress, treating the condition may help prevent more episodes. Similarly, if you avoid certain medications, you may reduce your risk.
