What is considered a toxic dosage of Tegretol?

Different people require different doses of Tegretol. Some people respond to 400 milligrams a day, and some people are on 1,600 milligrams a day. When you get over 1,000, 1,200 milligrams a day, most people feel some effect on their memory, fatigue and a decrease in mental alertness.

It's important to know that with Tegretol, in very, very rare cases, people can develop aplastic anemia, a drop in their blood count, which can be life-threatening in extreme cases. It's important when starting Tegretol to have your blood counts checked through a needle stick in your arm, at least once or twice.
