What are the treatment options for whiplash?

Over-the-counter pain medication, like acetaminophen, can usually relieve whiplash pain. Ice, heat, and physical therapy may be recommended by a doctor. Doctors can also prescribe pain killers or injections, if the pain is more serious. Occasionally, muscle relaxants may help ease the pain at night so you can sleep. Once common, you should only use foam collars with a doctor's supervision - too much use can weaken the neck and slow recovery.
