What is the health mug model of well-being?

William B. Salt II., MD
Gastroenterology
The Health Mug model proposes that you are born with a certain capacity for health and well-being, very much like the open space in a mug. When your mug is filled up with too much stuff, it spills over. This overflow results in stress-related medical problems, such as rashes, allergies, headaches, high blood pressure, ulcers, irritable bowel symptoms, migraine, autoimmune diseases and even cancer.

The space in your mug can be divided into three basic categories: things you cannot change, things you can change and things you allow to enter your mug.
