When you are using Symbicort (budesonide/ formoterol), you should not use any other long acting beta-agonist bronchodilators that work in the same way as Symbicort. This includes formoterol alone (sold as Foradil and Performist), salmeterol (sold as Advair and Serevent) and arformoterol (such as Brovana).
You should also avoid being around people with an infection who may be contagious. This is because the steroid part of Symbicort - budesonide - does not enable your body to fight off infection. This is particularly important for measles and chicken pox, because these infections can be very serious in people taking steroids.
