Before taking Astelin, your doctor should know about medications you are currently taking to determine if there are possible interactions between the drugs. Cimetidine (more commonly known as Tagamet) and Astelin when taken together can have side effects. You should also be aware of possible food, alcohol, or tobacco interactions with this medication. If you experience certain health issues such as kidney problems, these may be worsened by Astelin. Studies have not been done to determine the effectiveness of Astelin in children under the age of 12, or if it is passed through breast milk to a nursing infant. If you are pregnant, you should not take Astelin.
