What other medications do oral antihistamines interact with?

Donna Hill Howes, RN
Family Practitioner

If you are taking an opioid, antihistamines may not be good options for you.

If you are taking a drug that prolongs the QTc interval, antihistamines can lead to serious side effects.

If you are taking sodium oxybate, you should not take antihistamines.

You should not take an antihistamine while taking MAO inhibitors or until at least 2 weeks after stopping MAO inhibitors.
