Cromolyn nasal spray (NasalCrom) reduces allergy symptoms by preventing cells in the air passages from releasing histamine. Histamine is a chemical used by the immune system. It causes swelling, itching, sneezing, and other symptoms of an allergic reaction. Cromolyn nasal spray is available without a prescription.
