What are the forms of sodium chloride?

Sodium chloride is available in several forms that are each used in different ways. Sodium chloride tablets - which are taken by mouth - are used to treat or prevent sodium loss due to dehydration or excessive sweating. Sodium chloride nasal sprays are also available. These sprays are sprayed directly into the nostrils to treat dryness in the nasal passages. Sodium chloride injections are used as a source of water and electrolytes to treat dehydration and sodium loss. Sodium chloride is also used in other ways, mostly to deliver other medications. Sodium chloride may be available as a liquid to dilute asthma medications that are inhaled. It may also be used in a variety of other injected medications as a dilution liquid.
