What are the risks of taking Benadryl?

Using Benadryl can cause blurred vision, dizziness and tiredness, so caution should be taken when driving or engaging in activities. To reduce the risk of dizziness, you should remember to stand up slowly. Senior adults may be more prone to experiencing the side effects of Benadryl. It can also cause certain conditions to worsen, such as ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disorder, glaucoma, enlarged prostate and  Alzheimer's disease. If you have breathing problems, such as asthma, COPD, chronic bronchitis or emphysema, talk to your doctor before taking Benadryl.
