Is sodium chloride safe for pregnant or breastfeeding women?

It is unknown whether sodium chloride affects a developing fetus. Because of this, you should talk to your doctor if you plan on becoming pregnant or become pregnant while taking sodium chloride. It is  also unknown whether sodium chloride affects breast milk, so avoid breast-feeding until you talk to your doctor. Because so much is unknown about sodium chloride's effects on pregnancy and breastfeeding, it is suggested that women who are pregnant only take sodium chloride if absolutely necessary.
