Yes, Benadryl is safe for most children to use. There is a children's version of Benadryl that has been proven safe for treating allergies in children who are at least six years of age. The adult version has also been found to be safe for treating allergy and cold symptoms in children who are six years of age or older. Benadryl skin products have been found to be safe for children who are at least two years of age. However, Benadryl should not be used to cause drowsiness in children. Since excitability and irritability are potential side effects, Benadryl may not actually cause drowsiness as intended.
