What is the rate of incidence of youth onset myopia?

The rate of occurrence of myopia in general (not just youth onset) has been increasing. In the past few decades, the incidence rate jumped by 66 percent. Increases were observed most among African Americans. Approximately one in four people in the United States are affected by myopia, or nearsightedness. It is not clear what the specific incidence is of youth onset myopia.
