Is high myopia more common in men or women?

Gender does not seem to play a role in increasing the risk for high myopia. Although myopia does run in families, environmental factors also play a role. There is a higher prevalence of myopia in Asian populations. The overall rate of myopia is increasing around the world and it remains one of the top 10 causes of blindness.
