Rhabdomyosarcoma can be serious, depending on where in the body it develops and how far the cancer has spread. If the tumor is located in areas that are difficult to operate on, such as the bladder, limbs, or anywhere near the brain, rhabdomyosarcoma is usually more serious because it is more difficult to get rid of the cancer. If it is still in its early stages and hasn't spread throughout the body, rhabdomyosarcoma is not too serious, because treatment is usually very successful. Once the cancer begins to spread, the chances for recovery are not as good. Because of this, it is very important to take your child for frequent check-ups after treatment to make sure the cancer has not spread or come back.
