Can limb-girdle muscular dystrophy be prevented?

If you have a family history of limb-girdle muscular dystrophy, genetic screening may be helpful for an early diagnosis and early treatment. However, genetic testing isn't available for all forms of limb-girdle muscular dystrophy, so doctors will often diagnose the disorder only after you notice symptoms.
